Big Screen TV Prices Are Falling Fast

Big Screen TV Prices Are Falling FastApparently the prices of big screen flat-panel TVs are dropping significantly. Now’s the time to get a great deal on a flat-screen TV–if you can afford one, that is.

Electronics manufacturers are doing everything they can to keep afloat by selling TVs at rock-bottom prices, even if it means losing money. Supply is overruling demand, so companies like Panasonic, Philips, LG, and Sony have to slash prices to move the merchandise. And it doesn’t matter if you want an LCD or a plasma big screen TV, chances are you’ll find one at a fantastic price.

Big screen TVs are all the rage now – the bigger, the better it seems in the minds of consumers. Today you can buy a Panasonic Viera Plasma 50-inch HDTV for $899, about $500 off the original price, as advertised on Amazon.com. Samsung offers one for $927, which isn’t too bad either. But if you want to go even bigger, you won’t find a 60 inch plasma TV for less than $1999 by LG – a little pricier, but still cheap considering that it used to sell for $3499. All those models offer 720p high definition resolution.

With LCD HD televisions you will still be ahead of the game even though they tend to be priced a tad higher than plasma TVs. Reason being is because LCD televisions use up to 50 percent less power than plasma TVs. In other words, you are going to save quite a lot on your electricity bills every month.

A 52 inch screen LCD TV with 720p resolution made by Sharp will cost about $1100, down from $2000 when it first became available. That’s a huge savings.

If you want to get an LCD HD television that doesn’t take up so much space, you can buy a 32-inch for as low as $450. It’s still a fairly large screen and the price is definitely reasonable. LG offers a 42-inch screen LCD TV for around $800.

From what I read, you may want to stick with HDTVs that have a resolution of 720p rather than the emerging standard 1080p if you’re going to purchase something that has a screen measuring less than 40 inches. You’re not going to be able to tell the difference ordinarily.

Search around for big screen TVs that have plasma or LCD screens. You’re going to find some good deals, and it seems they’re going to be around for a while in case you need to wait.
