Sony Ericsson C902

If you like the Nokia N Series of the latest phones, but prefer Sony Ericsson and can’t betray brand loyalty, then the new C902 might be of interest. First of all, however, it should be pointed out that Sony Ericsson’s Cyber-shot series is changing its name and from now will be identified with the prefix “C.”

It already sounds like Sony Ericsson is following the Nokia “N” Series, but anyway, two new video cell phones from the C series, the C702 and C902, were shown at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2008. For now, all eyes are on the top of the range model, the C902. With Sony Ericsson hoping to continue the successful path led by the K850, the C902 has a new type of flash called “Photo Flash.”

More noticeable, however, is the Ericsson camera phone’s new look. Now it’s slimmer and that makes the C902 more handy and easy to use. It also offers a 2-inch display, 5.0-megapixel camera, 160MB built-in memory, M2 card slot, HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and USB connectivity. The camera is protected by a lid and according to Phone Arena, that’s the most exiting part of the video cell phone design.

The most exciting part of the design is the lid, protecting the two cameras. In contrast to K850, here the lid is opened manually, by pulling the upper part out. By doing this, the front and the back camera are revealed, but the first one, which is used for video calling can be used even with the lid closed. This is made possible by the opening, similar to the one left for the speaker.

With the C series it appears as though Sony Ericsson is launching a new generation of phones, and that’s also why the design has changed as well. Time will show how successful this change will be.
