After Nokia released the N95, for a long time its competitors couldn’t offer anything to compete with it. No wonder that the Nokia N95 remains the best new smartphone, especially because of its cool video features. Competitors such as Sony Ericsson and Samsung are now offering cellular phones with similar features, and also for less, which is why Nokia expected the name of its next killer phone sooner rather than later.

As you might have guessed already, it’s the Nokia N96.

The video cell phone looks very similar to the Nokia N95 with the exception that it has a slightly bigger 2.8-inch screen. It also offers all the capabilities of its sibling with the addition of extra features such as 16GB of internal memory, DVB TV tuner, special video browsing UI and kickstand. In fact, I would call the N96 a Nokia N95 Special Edition. According to I4U News you can purchase Nokia 96 in the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated sales price of approximately 550 euros.

Nokia is also not satisfied with just announcing the N96. There is also speculation that the iPhone-killing Nokia N98 is ready as well. However, Nokia hasn’t officially announced yet, but information on its specifications such as a 7.2 megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom is already enough of a warning for Apple. On the other hand, the price will be higher.
