TRVL: Pocket PC For Travelers
For those of you who travel a lot, the TRVL portable PC is designed to make your journey more enjoyable and comfortable. Usually the main items that you need while traveling are a passport, mobile phone, map, dictionary, camera and other important things, so TRVL combines all them in one place and offers easy and efficient use. The main functions of the TRVL are map/ navigation, guide, ID/ passport, ticket/ schedule, TV phone/ e-mail and Camera/ video.
This pocket PC has a large display and uses a touchscreen and voice recognition system to understand your commands. However, the main innovation is the TRVL’s map/ navigation and guide functions. When you activate these functions your display becomes transparent and takes the information about whatever you’re looking at and immediately shows you it on the display. To understand more clearly how it works, take a look at the picture below.
So all you need to do is to select the object and get the information, which is a much faster way of getting info than the way other pocket PC pdas provide. Here is what TUVIE reports.
TRVL changes people’s travel lifestyle. This PC reduces both physical and physicological stress during traveling. People can easily learn and study a different culture by using TRVL without any guides or guidebooks. It makes people travel much easier because it requires less preparation.
TRVL was shown at the recent Next-Gen PC Design competition and true, is still only a concept, but such a device would indeed be useful for travelers. It is unlikely that the technology is there yet for such a device and even when it is, the price may be out of reach for the mass market. Still, one day…
